The Middleboro/Lakeville Rotary Club recently honored longtime member and community leader Bob Saquet with a surprise retirement celebration at the Fireside Restaurant. Bob, owner of Eggers Furniture, has devoted 60 years to the furniture industry, guiding the nearly 200-year-old Middleboro institution for the past 46 years. A respected and active Rotarian for 45 years, Bob has played a vital role in both business and civic life, also serving as Mansfield’s Town Moderator for more than 34 years and currently sitting on the Board of Directors for the Retailers Association of Massachusetts.Over fifty friends, family members, and community guests including Ken Butler - Mass Arts Ctr. executive director and Jim Mulcahy - Asst. to the Middleboro town mgr., gathered to celebrate Bob’s remarkable career and enduring community service. The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, and fond memories shared by those who have worked with or been inspired by him. During the event, State Representative Norman J. Orrall presented Bob with an official Massachusetts House of Representatives citation, recognizing his many contributions to the region. The Rotary Club extended warm wishes for a well-earned retirement, confident that Bob will continue to play an active and valued role in the communities he has long served.
