Penny Quackenbush, a member of the Middleboro/Lakeville Rotary Club, also volunteers with Lasagna Love, a national organization whose volunteers purchase ingredients, prepare homemade lasagnas, and deliver them to anyone who requests one. Inspired by that mission, Penny proposed hosting a community “Lasagna Night,” inviting her Rotarians, friends, and neighbors to come together and make a large batch of meals for local families.

The North Congregational Church, long a supportive partner of the Q’s and Middleboro/Lakeville Rotary, generously offered the use of its commercial kitchen for the effort. This past Wednesday evening, 14 community minded volunteers gathered at NCC and worked side by side to prepare 20 lasagnas. The group quickly fell into a rhythm … each person taking on a task … resulting in steady progress, plenty of teamwork, and more than a little laughter.

Penny, along with the entire Middleboro/Lakeville Rotary Club, extends heartfelt thanks to the North Congregational Church and to all the Rotarians, friends and neighbors who joined in this meaningful act of community service.
